Parasympathetic Ganglia

 Parasympathetic Ganglia

The fibers of the visceroefferent nuclei (visceromotor and secretory) synapse in parasympathetic ganglia to form postgan-glionic fibers. Apart from the parasympa-thetic root (preganglionic fibers), each gan-glion has a sympathetic root (synapsing in the ganglia of the sympathetic chain, p. 296) and a sensory root, the fibers of which pass the ganglion without interruption. Thus, the branches leaving the ganglion contain sym-pathetic, parasympathetic, and sensory fibers.
